Based on Dutch scientists’ developments that position seaweed and algae as new super-foods, packed with high-quality proteins, vitamins, and minerals, two entrepreneurs have invented a way to use this sustainable material as their primary resource in order to secure future food production. They developed a 100 per cent plant-powered hamburger. Production of these new super-foods requires neither additional freshwater, nor agricultural land, because their ingredients grow rapidly in the world’s oceans. As a result, the Dutch Weed Burger can make a considerable contribution to the health of citizens and the planet.
