This year four Dutch DJs are in the top 5 of DJ Mag’s 100 best DJs in the world. In first place is Martin Garrix, number 3 is last year’s number 1 Hardwell, followed by Armin van Buuren and Tiësto. The Dutch were quick to become involved the electronic dance music scene, giving the Netherlands a head start in this sector.

Every year the event grows with 2289 artists performing at 100 venues and over 500 speakers attending various ADE conferences this year. Electronic Dance Music (EDM) is one of the Netherlands main export products. A survey conducted in 2012 by EVAR indicated that direct financial flows associated with EDM in the Netherlands amounted to 586.9 million euros and accounted for approximately 7,000 FTEs.
House comes home
In a way, house music has found its home in Amsterdam now that the Adam Toren (Amsterdam Dance and Music tower) has opened, accommodating various music businesses. The initiative launched by Sander Groet (Air) and his consorts, Duncan Stutterheim (formerly ID&T), Hans Brouwer (Massive Music) and Eric-Jan de Rooij (Lingotto).
"It is fantastic to see that Amsterdam has become a global destination for both music lovers and the music industry,” says ADE Director Richard Zijlma.
