Hannover Messe opens with Holland as partner country
‘The Netherlands is a country of innovation at its best. A country of inventors, creative minds and innovative engineers.’
Dutch innovation generates income and jobs and drives export
This is part of the address made by Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte during the official opening of the Hannover Messe international trade fair in which the Netherlands is playing a prominent role as official partner country. ‘Dutch solutions are often smart solutions,’ Rutte said. Under the slogan ‘Global Challenges, Dutch Solutions’, the Netherlands is showcasing the best of its high tech innovation. In all, 270 Dutch companies and knowledge institutes are presenting themselves at the fair which runs from 7 to 11 April. In an interview with Dutch reporters before his departure to Hannover, Rutte said ‘Dutch innovations must become just as famous as our tulips and dikes’. Dutch innovation generates income and jobs and drives export. Currently 30 percent of Holland’s wealth is linked to export, Rutte said. The Hannover Messe is the world’s largest industrial trade fair and this year has more than 6,500 participants from 62 countries. More than 220,000 visitors are expected to attend the fair.
