Amsterdam and Cisco cooperate on Smart City ecosystem
The City of Amsterdam has signed an agreement with US firm Cisco, in Silicon Valley, to jointly develop long-term strategies in the areas of sustainability and the ‘Internet of Everything’.
Smart City projects
The two parties have already been working together for over 10 years on numerous Smart City projects, such as city-wide fibre-optic connections, the Smart Grid, smart workplaces and Public TelePresence possibilities. The new agreement will give new impetus to the creation of a more holistic Internet of Everything for Amsterdam, unlocking new synergies whilst still guaranteeing the safety and privacy of the city’s inhabitants. Cisco will work together with Amsterdam Smart City and City Hall on the creation of a large-scale, local ecosystem via which innovations can be delivered to the city and its inhabitants. The first topics to be addressed will be intelligent lighting, smart parking and smart security in the Zuidoost area of the city.
