Dutch hackers are tops in international competition

Dutch ethical hackers have demonstrated to be the best in the world at the Global CyberLimpics competition in Atlanta. Dutch teams won the first, second and third prizes in the annual online game which aims to forge cyber security partnerships across borders.

Two teams from accountants firm Deloitte in the Netherlands won gold and silver while KPN's team won bronze. In the competition, hackers attempt to take over as many computers as possible from the competitor. The finals were the last round of a year-long international competition held amongst hundreds of teams from around the world. Deloitte won the competition for the third time running. KPN was a first-time participant. Global CyberLimpics is supported by the International Telecommunications Union (ITU). One of its key goals is to foster an environment that creates child online protection through education.
